• Request that the School Board dedicate money for technology so that we have a replacement and upgrade cycle– four-year replacement cycle (and software purchase/upgrades).
• Request that sites consult with IT on technology purchases to improve continuity and possibly reduce cost
• Support the upgrade and maintenance of the network infrastructure
• Implement a secure wireless scheme for every building
• Compare lease versus purchase for hardware and network (related to budget)
• Make sure that buildings are maintained and upgraded in terms of fiber optics, network infrastructure, telephones, wireless (and make sure that all new and renovated buildings are up to standards)
• Make sure ethernet ports and wireless infrastructure are up to standards
• Continue standardizing hardware and software
• Get a handle on licensing software (use “TrackIt” or parallel software).
• Research open source software
• Plan for implementation of Smartboards, projectors, security technology and infrastructure for the use of Bluetooth and/or wireless USB, and other peripheral devices
